Politburo member and Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the request at a working session held on January 17 with the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on crime prevention and control, and traffic safety for the upcoming Tet.

He asked the city police to continue regular patrols and anti-vice campaigns.

It is also necessary to pay more attention to the forecast of criminal activities and the crime trend for timely prevention and control, especially in adjacent areas, Deputy PM Phuc stated, saying that the city should focus on improving the public’s understanding of the situation and encourage their participation in the fight against crime.

Since criminals are likely to move from one province to another, close cooperation between police forces is needed, the Deputy PM added.

Tough measures should also be devised against smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud, along with boosting fire prevention and control as Tet is coming up, he noted.
