The State leader said Son La has many advantages in agricultural development but they have not been fully tapped.

Briefing the president on Son La’s situation, the provincial Party committee reported that despite some results in economic development, Son La remains a poor province with many communes in enormous difficulty.

However the province is trying to tap into its advantages and implement a number of highly productive agricultural projects such as raising fish in hydropower plant reservoirs and growing rubber trees.

President Sang said that in order to help local residents to escape poverty quickly, the province should promote the application of technology to develop high-tech and clean agricultural production.

He noted that Son La province should also improve its business environment and push through administrative reforms to attract more external resources for economic development.

During his stay in Son La, President Sang also visited ethnic residents in the two districts of Song Ma and Sop Cop, and inspected the border belt road from Chieng Khuong to Muong Lan.

He expressed his pleasure that despite difficult conditions, local residents still trust the State’s policies, build the national unity block and safeguard national sovereignty.
