According to MOLISA, Vietnam sent more than 8,500 workers abroad with 5,700 to Taiwan, 1,800 to Japan and 200 to the Republic of Korea.

The total number of Vietnamese guest workers in the first two months of 2015 rose 23.5% to 17,200, nearly a third of which are female workers.

Taiwanese authorities say they are considering re-accepting Vietnamese workers in the fishing industry and as domestic workers, which is expected to increase opportunities for Vietnamese workers.
