France-funded leachate treatment pond inaugurated in Thua Thien-Hue

Authorities of Thua Thien - Hue province on March 12 inaugurated the upgrade of Thuy Phuong leachate treatment pond and supporting facilities in Huong Thuy district.

The project has a total investment of EUR520,000 including EUR350,000 funded by the Greater Paris Wastewater Treatment Authority (SIAAP).

The upgrade project was implemented in 2013 and 2014 including a pond for aeration, a pond for deposition, a filter tank and supporting items such as a pump station, a fence, a lighting system and aeration machines among others.

The project is expected to deal with pollution at Thuy Phuong landfill, enhancing the quality of life of local residents.

Earlier on March 11, SIAAP Vice President Jacques Jean Paul Martin and Chairman of Hue city's People Committee Nguyen Van Thanh signed an agreement for co-operation in the 2015-2017 period.

Under the deal, SIAAP will provide Hue city with EUR100,000 to carry out the wastewater treatment project in the Hue Citadel in 2015 and EUR150,000 will be furnished to the city in the remaining 2016 and 2017.
