Before the inauguration of the bridge, residents, including children, had to cross the river by raft to go to school and work.

Before Mo O Bridge was put into operation, local people had to use rope and raft to cross the river

The bridge measures 165 metres in length and 5.5 metres in width with a total investment of over VND23.1 billion (US$1.1 million). Construction of the bridge commenced in February 2014 and was completed in March 2015, nearly two month ahead of schedule.

Chairman of Son Ha district's People's Committee Nguyen Phong said that Son Ba commune is the poorest locality of Son Ha district with a population of over 4,400. The commune is divided by the Re river, forcing the locals to dangerously swing across the river, particularly in rainy season.

Local residents are happy to have the new bridge, contributing to local infrastructure, promoting poverty reduction and boosting socio-economic development, he added.
