The state leader made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on March 29 for a delegation of former high-ranking officers of Army Corps No.2.

The Party and State have directed ministries, sectors and localities to further improve their implementation of policies and programmes paying tribute to the policy beneficiaries, he said.

He praised the Corps’ liaison committee for hosting a number of activities, which have helped its members revisit old battlefields while contributing to educating Vietnam’s younger generations.

The corps’ experiences shared by the delegates will help the Party and State make proper defence policies and guidelines, and realise the country’s socio-economic development and security-defence.

Established on May 17, 1975, the Army Corps No.2 is Vietnam’s first key military unit which was formed directly on the battlefield, grouping elite forces of different arms. The unit participated in numerous important campaigns and made outstanding exploits, contributing to safeguarding the country.
