VFF President urged to preserve traditional craft villages

Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan along with representatives of the Vietnam Craft Villages’ Association conducted a field trip to Phu Lang pottery craft village in Que Vo district, the northern Bac Ninh province.

At the working session, representatives from nearly 200 households and businesses of the craft village expressed their wish that the central and local functional agencies would create more favourable conditions to help the village promote their products and increase consumption of handicraft products.

Speaking at the session, VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan spoke highly of the tradition value of the 700 year-old Phu Lang pottery craft village.

He affirmed the importance of co-operation among businesses and craft villages to create a goods distribution channel.

It is also necessary to forge ties among co-operatives, traditional craft villages and enterprises to develop the market, both at home and abroad, he added.

He also called for assistance from relevant agencies as well as for more efforts to be made by the local population in preserving traditional values of the craft village, particularly in the context of international integration.

The same day, VFF President Nhan also paid a visit to Son Dong wood carving village in Hoai Duc district, Hanoi.
