After the closing ceremony, the VLF’s leaders held a press conference to announce the congress’ outcomes.

According to VLF Vice President Do Ngoc Thinh, the congress discussed and adopted a report on the federation’s performance in the first tenure from 2009 to 2014 and the VLF’s Charter.

The delegates elected 95 members into the second tenure’s National Lawyers Council, including 63 heads of lawyer associations in provinces and cities across the country. The Council convened the first session and elected the VLF’s Standing Committee including 21 members and four Vice Presidents. The next session will be held soon to elect a President and an additional Vice President.

Leaders of the VLF expressed their hope that delegates would effectively communicate the congress’ outcomes and implement the congress’ resolution and the VLF’s Charter, contributing to strengthening the federation, improving law practices and participating effectively in national tasks.

The federation and lawyers will continue suggesting legal improvements to authorised agencies in order to create a favourable legal corridor for lawyers and their organisations to practice effectively.

VLF Vice President Phan Trung Hoai said that together with contributions to judicial reforms, law construction, and consultation on important international cases, such as in the preparation of legal documents and procedures fighting for national sovereignty over sea and islands in the East Sea, the VLF will enhance free legal support to disadvantaged people and policy beneficiaries.
