HCMC leaders meet representatives of religious and ethnic groups

Ho Chi Minh City authorities hosted a meeting on April 19 for 250 representatives of religious and ethnic groups.

Delegates attending the meeting reviewed patriotic activities and movements participated in by religious and ethnic groups, which have significantly contributed to Vietnam’s struggle for national reunification as well as to the city’s construction and development in particular.

Speaking at the event, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee Le Thanh Hai highly valued the positive participation of religious and ethnic group’s charitable activities, contributing to the development of education and healthcare, as well as improving cultural lifestyle in the city.

He expressed his hope that the groups will promote national solidarity to make further contributions to the city’s development.

Doctor Phu Van Han, a representative of Cham ethnic group in HCMC, said that over the past four decades, the city’s authorities have provided Cham people with support in reducing poverty, granting scholarships, and improving their living standards.

On behalf of Khmer people in HCMC, Most Venerable Danh Lung affirmed that the municipal Party’s committee and administration have always created favourable conditions for Khmer people to observe their cultural and religious practices. Khmer people always encourage their descendants to enjoy the life and value the peaceful times they are enjoying today as it is only possible due to the sacrifice of the countless lives of ancestors.
