Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan made the suggestion during his visit to trade villages in Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province, on April 19.

The VFF Chairman appreciated the significant contributions of the trade villages to the socio-economic development of the province.

Throughout the past, the trade villages have created jobs and increased income for many local people as well as promoted the shift of the province’s labour structure and building new-style rural areas.

Chairman Nhan emphasised that authorities of all levels and relevant branches in the province should actively co-ordinate with production facilities in trade villages to apply scientific achievements to prevent and minimise pollution to the environment.

Nam Dinh currently has 128 trade villages with 390 production facilities, creating jobs for more than 60,000 rural workers. The annual total production value of the villages reached VND4 trillion (over US$185 million) per year, including the export value of VND30 million– VND40 million ((US$1,389 - US$1,852) per year.

Workers in the province’s trade villages have earned an average income of around VND3 million (US$138) per month.

On the same day, VFF Chairman Nguyen Thien Nhan visited and conducted fieldwork at the Coc Thanh agricultural co-operatives and Van Xuan Truong veterans’ co-operatives in Vu Ban district.
