PM asks to accelerate administrative reform in natural resources and environment

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on May 26 held a working session with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and relevant agencies and sectors on administrative procedures reform in the field of natural resources and the environment.

Speaking at the session, PM Dung emphasised that administrative reform in general and administrative reform in the field of natural resources and the environment in particular, aim to enhance the State management in a more effective and transparent manner, as well as create more favourable conditions for citizens and enterprises in investment and production, contributing to the country’s rapid and sustainable development, and the fight against corruption.

It is necessary to boost administrative reforms in line with the government’s Resolution 19 which focuses on a number of measures to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness, he noted.

PM Dung also asked the ministry to strengthen co-ordination between relevant ministries, sectors and localities in completion and enforcement of the law and administrative reform, as well as devise a plan, in which its specific tasks and the collaboration with other relevant agencies should be clarified.

During the meeting, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang reported to PM Dung on the ministry’s operation, particularly efforts in implementing administrative reforms in the fields of land and water management; sea and islands; surveying and mapping; hydrometeorology and climate change response.
