Women in the army stand ready to serve their country

Women in the army have proved they always stand ready to serve their country, work innovatively to overcome any challenge, and create a strong presence in the military.

The affirmation was shared by 55 outstanding women who have had excellent performances in the 2010-2015 period, at a meeting hosted by President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on May 27.

With nearly 10,000 people working in 2,000 associations at all levels, women in the army have made significant contributions to all fields of life throughout the country.

Over the past five years, five collectives and five individuals have been awarded prizes from the Vietnam Women Association, 7,000 became Party members, four female army officers were ordained as generals, and many others were honoured as associate professors, people’s artists and people’s teachers.

Speaking at the meeting, President Sang highly appreciated contributions made by Vietnamese women, particularly those serving in the army, for national construction and defence.

He stressed that the participating outstanding delegates played an exemplary and important role in their units, and encouraged them to continue their excellent work. .

He also expressed his belief that with their strong determination, women in the army would meet their duties and continue the military’s tradition, deserving the trust of the Party, the State and people.
