In the article, published in Nhan Dan Monthly, the senior official talks about strategic trust as a way to resolve international conflicts, especially with increased tensions in the East Sea.
Through the interview with Deputy Minister Vinh, readers can see Vietnam’s current defence strategy - that Vietnam will never made concession on independence, territorial and sovereign rights.
Nhan Dan also won a third prize and two consolation prizes for articles on the print newspaper and the online version.
The awards ceremony took place on May 27 in the presence of Politburo members Le Hong Anh, standing member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat and Dinh The Huynh, head of the Commission for Communication and Education, as well as former Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem.
Speaking at the event, Huynh praised achievements of external information agencies in fostering Vietnam’s ties with other countries, attracting foreign investment and tourists to Vietnam and strengthening the affiliation of Vietnamese communities abroad with the country.
He emphasised that media agencies need to understand the importance of their work and regularly improve the efficiency of their services to help promote Vietnam’s prestige and win over the assistance of the international and overseas Vietnamese communities.
According to the organisers, the awards were given to 59 entries including five first prizes, ten second prizes, 13 third prizes and 31 consolation prizes, which had been selected from 515 entries in a total of ten languages.
The first prize went to five entries including a series on Vietnam’s military art by Vietnam Television; a radio programme on Vietnam-US relations broadcast on the Voice of Vietnam and a report by Tuoi Tre on a Vietnamese woman seeking justice for Agent Orange victims.
The top honour was also awarded to a multilingual news report on the East Sea in the form of rapping by newswire VietnamPlus, and a photo essay on religious life in Vietnam by Vietnam Pictorial.
The Awards Steering Board will now select outstanding works among the winning entries to print and publish in several languages.
