Construction of the hospital commenced in July 2014 on an area of 19,000m2 with a total investment of roughly VND1 trillion (US$46 million). The six-storey building includes 150 beds, 11 function rooms, and ten treatment departments equipped with the world's most modern medical equipment.

This is Vingroup's second hospital of its kind put into operation after Vinmec Hanoi Hospital. Located within Phu Quoc Vinpearl Resort on Bai Dai (Long Beach), a special attraction of Phu Quoc Island, Vinmec Phu Quoc is designed to be nature-friendly, offering an ideal relaxing space and recovery space for its patients.

The hospital meets all of the strict standards set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and complies with the Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, the world's leading standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, CEO of Vinmec International Hospital said that like the Vinmec Hanoi Hospital - Vietnam's first hospital meeting JCI standards - Vinmec Phu Quoc will provide local residents and tourists with reliable health care services while living and travelling on the island.

A chain of Vinmec hospitals is scheduled to be opened at other tourist sites across the country such as Ha Long, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City among others.
