Event honours writers on police force

An event entitled 'Pages on 70 years of the People's Police force' was held in Hanoi on June 19 to honour writers who have written about the police force and national security.

The event was held jointly by the People's Police Publishing House and the Vietnam Writers' Association in the presence of President Truong Tan Sang and Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang.

At the event, Minister of Public Security presented 15 prizes to winners of the writing contest themed 'For national security and a peaceful life' which was held between 2012 and 2015. About 120 entries by 110 writers were submitted to the organising board during the period.

The two A prizes went to writers Dao Trung Hieu and Pham Quang Dau for their writings on the struggle of the police force in drug prevention and control and the life of intelligencer Nguyen Dinh Ngoc.

The awards honour writers who have created outstanding literary works contributing to the cause of national security in the past 70 years, said Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Van Hieu.

Through the literary works, readers are able to take a true and vivid look at the silent and arduous struggles of police officers in maintaining national security and a peaceful life for the people, Hieu noted.

At the programme, audiences had a chance to meet and talk to writers Nguyen Khac Truong, Nguyen Quang Thieu, Ngon Vinh among others.
