Press contest on the cause of great national unity launched

Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) held a ceremony in Hanoi on June 19 to launch the 12th press contest themed ‘For the cause of Great National Unity’ (2015 – 2016), as part of activities to mark 90th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

The event was attended by the Politburo member and VFFCC Chairman Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Addressing the ceremony, the VFFCC Chairman extended his best wishes to journalists and press agencies on the occasion of 90th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day as well as praised the achievements that the national press had made over nine decades.

VFFCC Chairman Nhan emphasised that it is necessary for press agencies to provide complete and timely information on the country’s current events and Party's guidelines, and the State's policies and laws to people from all strata, as well as promptly report aspirations and suggestions of people to the Party, State and governments at all levels in order to implement President Ho Chi Minh’s proclamation ‘Unity, unity, great unity – Success, success, great success’.

Entries should reflect Resolutions of the Party Committee, activities of the government and Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at all levels and outcomes of the movement to learn and follow President Ho Chi Minh's Moral Example, as well as patriotic emulation campaigns including 'All people unite to build the cultural life in residential areas' and 'Vietnamese give priority to Vietnamese goods'.

The works submitted to the contest can also discuss the performance of the monitoring and social criticism role of the VFF and socio-political organisations.

Entries can be sent to 46 Trang Thi street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi from June 21 to September 20.

On the same day, the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission (PCCIC) held a meeting to mark 90th anniversary of Vietnamese Press Day and 20th anniversary of the first issue of its magazine. Politburo member Ngo Van Du, who is also Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the PCCIC, attended the event and presented the Independence Order, Third Class to the magazine.

Over the past 20 years, under the leadership of the PCCIC, the magazine has developed strongly, affirming its position in the press in the country. The magazine has published the work of Party building, particularly the inspection, supervision and discipline of the Party.

Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper also held a ceremony to mark the Vietnamese Press Day in Hanoi on June 19, with the presence of the member of the Party Central Committee Thuan Huu who is also the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association and Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper.

Being the central organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Voice of the Party, State and People of Vietnam, Nhan Dan Newspaper has actively improved all publications in, significantly contributing to the national construction and protection.

The Office of the Vietnam National Assembly (NA) also held a meeting in Hanoi for journalists and press agencies and launched the club ‘Journalists report on the NA’ on the occasion.

Additionally, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Vietnam General Confederation of Labour as well as the municipal Party Committee, People's Council, the People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi organised ceremonies to celebrate 90th anniversary of Vietnamese Press Day.
