National high school exams conclude after four days

The 2015 national high school examinations officially concluded on July 4 with students sitting for the last two subjects – history and biology.

According to a report by the exams’ steering committee, the last day of exams saw 148,428 students attend the history exam, 96.32% of the total registered, and 275,577 taking the biology exam, equivalent to 97.45% of students who pre-registered.

Examinations took place from July 1 to 4 with 957,529 candidates completing the necessary procedures prior to the tests, reaching 95% of the total 1,006,479 registered candidates.

Twenty eight percent of students registered to use the exam’s results for high school graduation only, while the remaining 72% registered to use the results for high school graduation as well as university and college enrollment.

Attendances were rather high in all subjects with 98.68% in math, 99.30% in foreign languages, 99.03% in literature, 98.59% in physics, 98.26% in geography, 98.08% in chemistry, 96.32% in history and 97.45% in biology compared to the registered candidates.

The four-day exams recorded 770 cases of regulation violations, which involved 49 students being prompted, 27 warned and 694 suspended from the exams.

More than 4,000 voluntary teams were set-up across the country during the exams with nearly 60,000 volunteers, preparing 39,422 free lodgings, 163,897 cheap accommodations and 237,000 free meals.

After the last subject finished on the afternoon of July 4, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a press briefing to report on issues relating to the national high school exams. According to the MOET, the exams took place in a strict environment, with cases of cheating limited and violation cases punished appropriately. Exam questions were open, focusing on creating a comfortable environment for candidates and promoting creativeness in their responses.

The ministry also announced the official answers to the eight subjects on its web portal www.moet.gov.vn directly after the exams concluded.
