Nhan Dan TV Channel launched

Nhan Dan Television channel officially started broadcasting on September 1 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, after a trial broadcasting phase on domestic cable networks since June of this year.

A live video conference, launching Nhan Dan TV Channel, took place at Hanoi Opera House in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City on September 1.

The event saw the presence of Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former President Nguyen Minh Triet; Politburo members - the permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh; former Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Pham The Duyet; Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Head of the CPVCC Commission for Communication and Education Dinh The Huynh; Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai; and former Director of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Thanh Ngan, as well as other senior Party and State officials.

Former Politburo member and President, General Le Duc Anh and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung also sent baskets of flowers to the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, PCC member and Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief Thuan Huu said that the launch of the Nhan Dan TV Channel is not only a new step for Nhan Dan newspaper in its 65 years of development, but also a large new challenge for the newspaper's staff.

At the event, the participants and audience had a chance to meet former leaders and staff of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung congratulated the newspaper on the launching Nhan Dan TV Channel after two years of preparing and affirmed the channel helps the newspaper become a more comprehensive multimedia editorial office.

The PM also urged the Nhan Dan TV Channel and Nhan Dan Newspaper to continue to perform their political task to disseminate Marxism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, Party guidelines and State policies among people from all walks of life.

He also called for more in-depth and timely reports, as well as analyses and commentaries on socio-economic and political events to direct public opinion and better serve the needs of the people.

He noted that Nhan Dan TV, despite considerable challenges ahead, would soon secure an important position amongst domestic viewers, given the reputation of Nhan Dan Newspaper over the last six decades.

The channel officially started broadcasting on September 1, broadcasting 24 hours a day on VTV, Hanoicab, MyTV, VTC, HTV, and SCTV cable systems.
