The dedication was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Hanoi Secretary Pham Quang Nghi and Ho Chi Minh City Secretary Le Thanh Hai, Russian medical experts and local residents.
The memorial house was designed by architect Hoang Dao Kinh, who said the structure was inspired by lotus flowers and clouds which symbolise President Ho Chi Minh’s simple yet noble life.
At the event, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command, designers, builders and philanthropists for their contributions to the completion of the house.
The deputy PM asked the High Command and the Hanoi authorities to ensure a warm reception for visitors to the site so as to promote the values and thoughts of Vietnam’s founding father.
In 1957 when President Ho Chi Minh stopped by Da Chong to watch an exercise of Division 316, he decided that a base would be established in this strategic location as the meeting venue for the Party’s senior leaders in case the war against the US escalated to the north.
After President Ho Chi Minh passed away on September 2, 1969, his embalmed body was preserved in Da Chong, also known by its secret code K9, until his mausoleum in Ba Dinh Square was completed in August 1975.
