The scholarships were presented at a ceremony held in Thua Thien-Hue province on September 30 by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the FPT Corporation.

According to the director of the provincial Children’s Fund, on the occasion of the new academic year, the fund has co-ordinated with organisations and local authorities to present gifts and scholarships - worth nearly VND 1 billion (US$44,500) in total - to over 800 students who are living in difficult circumstance.

The gifts are a sign of society’s care and support for the underprivileged children, and encourage them to overcome their difficulties and integrate into the community.
