Seminar highlights President Ho’s role in Vietnam’s revolutionary press

President Ho Chi Minh’s significant contributions to the development of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, his writing style as a journalist, as well as his fundamental theoretical viewpoints on revolutionary guidelines and Party building, were the major topics of a seminar held in Hanoi on June 17.

Under the theme ‘President Ho Chi Minh and Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, the event attracted the participation of many researchers, experts and veteran journalists of Nhan Dan newspaper. It was among activities to mark the 91st anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2016).

Addressing the event, Party Central Committee member and Chairman of Vietnam Journalists’ Association Thuan Huu stressed that President Ho Chi Minh was not only the founder of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, but also the master and mentor of many generations of journalists.

Chairman Huu, who is also Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, noted thatas a pioneer solider who promoted the role of the press, the President utilised journalism as a sharp and effective tool in the national cause for liberation and construction.

He noted with pleasure that President Ho Chi Minh showed special attention to the newspaper since its establishment, adding that from March 1951 to September 1969, under 30 different pen names, the national leader was the author of over 1,200 articles on the newspaper.

The articles featured the President’s viewpoints on a wide range of topics, including Vietnam’s revolutionary viewpoints, the national resistance wars for unification, and international issues, which were presented in the most simple, understandable and attractive manner for readers.

On the occasion, Nhan Dan newspaper in co-ordination with the National Political Publishing House introduced a book set entitled ‘President Ho Chi Minh’s articles in Nhan Dan newspaper'.

The three-volume set, comprising 359 selected writing of the President, is expected to provide researchers, journalists, Party members and readers with a trustworthy and practical source for reference on the national leader’s ideology.
