Speaking at the event, VFF President Nhan said that the implementation of the campaign launched in late 2015 implements the Party and State’s policies and resolutions on poverty reduction programs and new rural area construction programmes.

The campaign is also among the regular movements that have contributed to the innovations in mechanisms, social supervision and criticism to promote the national unity bloc and improve VFF performance.

It is implemented for the people, led by the Party, and managed and implemented by both the State and the people, in which the main role of the VFF is mobilising, monitoring and implementing social supervision and criticism for effective new rural and urban area construction.

At the seminar, effective models in mobilising people to build modern rural areas in the Mekong Delta region were shared.

Delegates said that to effectively implement the campaign, it is necessary to ensure uniform leadership and guidance from the central to local level, while identifying responsibilities of relevant sectors and the whole political system to the campaign.

According to Vice President of VFF chamber in Dong Thap province Doan Thi Nghiep, the government should issue directives, resolutions and joint circulars to help the Front effectively implement the campaign. In addition, concerned ministries and agencies should give specific instructions to help VFF at provincial and municipal levels in the co-ordination for the campaign implementation in the near future.

President of VFF chamber in Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province Tran Ly Xuyen stressed the need to ensure transparency when implementing projects to promote the ownership of the people and help them understand that new rural area construction is for their benefit, thereby encouraging their active participation.

VFF President Nhan urged localities to develop their own plans to implement the campaign to suit local conditions.

He also asked the Front to co-ordinate with local authorities in mobilising people to participate in health insurance and in the evaluation of the people and businesses’ satisfaction to public serves and local authorities’ operation, as well as making 3-6 month periodic reports on the issue to the Party, State, and National Assembly.
