The 41-year-old lecturer was honoured alongside 702 other lecturers and scientists who had earned the titles of professor and associate professor. The youngest associate professor was Tran Xuan Bach, 32, from Hanoi Medical University.
Those in attendance at the ceremony included Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training and Chairman of the State Council for the Title of Professor.
Professors and associate professors are a pivotal force in the training and development of a contingent of intellectuals for the country. They contribute to the building of a young generation of Vietnamese passionate about studying and creative in scientific research, said Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam.
The Deputy PM noted that more and more lecturers, scientists and authors had been producing studies of great value for the nation’s socioeconomic development, defence and security, and that many had gained prestige in the international academic community.
He also expressed his hope that they would continue devoting themselves to national education and training development in particular.
Nearly 12,000 professors and associate professors have been recognised in Vietnam since 1976.
