Vice President presents scholarships to children in Nghe An and Ha Tinh

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented 200 scholarships to students in Huong Khe district Ha Tinh province, which was seriously affected by recent floods.

She also presented 600 sets of study equipment and computers to schools and 65 gifts to teachers and families living in difficult circumstances in the area.

Sharing the losses and difficulties with the flood victims, Vice President Thinh stressed that Party and State, local authorities and relevant ministries and sectors are always side by side with the people in any circumstance.

She expressed her hope that the locals would promote solidarity and support each other in order to overcome obstacles and stabilise their lives.

She highly appreciated the active efforts of local authorities in responding to and addressing flood consequences.

She urged local authorities to take proper measures to resume everyday life and production activities for residents, and create favourable conditions for teachers and students to return to school.

It is also necessary to ensure security and social order while taking measures to stabilise the prices of essential commodities, to prevent diseases and to handle any problems that may arise in the wake of the floods.

The same day, Vice President Thinh presented 100 scholarships to poor students in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province to encourage them to further pursue their studies.

The Vice President also delivered gifts to 10 exemplary teachers and five sets of computers to five schools in the district.

In addition, she presented VND50 million (US$2,200) to the the National Fund for Vietnamese Children in Nam Dan to help it realise its action programme for children and social security.
