The ceremony, held on the occasion of the 71st founding anniversary of Vietnam’s agriculture and rural development sector, saw the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, and Chairman of Vietnam Farmers’ Association Lai Xuan Mon.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that honouring the outstanding cooperatives, cooperative groups and farmers reflected the ministry’s acknowledgement for their significant role in making contributions to the country’s process of restructuring agriculture and building new rural areas.

The 51 cooperatives and cooperative groups were acknowledged for providing excellent production services for their members while serving as a bridge linking farmers, farms and businesses, thus ensuring the consumption of products.

They have also been active in applying advanced technology in production and operation while participating in community activities.

Meanwhile, 17 farmers stood out for turning their on-field experience into initiatives and inventions which have contributed to improving farming technologies as well as facilitating the storage, processing and consumption of products.

Their inventions, which have been licensed or certified by functional agencies, have been implemented into the agricultural industry and brought about effectiveness in operation.
