They had to take a three-part exam including a quiz (25 questions in 60 minutes), an essay (thirteen questions in 90 minutes) and a discovery exercise (six questions in 120 minutes).

In the science category, which included three subjects, viz. Physics, Biology and Chemistry, Vietnam won ten silver medals (mainly thanks to students from Hanoi Star Secondary School) and two bronzes.

The 2016 IMSO draws the participation of more than 400 competitors from 23 countries and territories around the world, including China, Singapore, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Iran and Chinese Taipei.

The event is a useful international playground in which for students to gain more experience and improve their knowledge of mathematics and science.
