At the event, which was held on the occasion of the 86th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) (November 18, 1930-2016), the vice president affirmed the important role of the VFF in mobilising the power of the people to generate synthetic strength for Vietnam’s revolution, bringing victories to the national revolutionary movement.
Praising the positive work of the residential areas and their contributions to Dien Bien Ward’s socioeconomic progress, Vice President Thinh said that the locale was home to many headquarters of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly’s agencies and was the venue of the meetings that decide the most important issues for the nation, so Dien Bien Ward plays an important role in maintaining political stability and security in the capital city.
The vice president expressed her confidence that with their role of uniting the people, the local VFF committees as well as local authorities would further benefit the residential areas in the near future.
She stated that the essential tasks for Dien Bien Ward were maintaining political security and social order and safety; promoting the role of the authorities in residential areas and local VFF committees in the regulation of grassroots democracy; and mobilising the people in observing the Party and State’s policies and movements at the local level.
The senior State official also expressed her wish that the residential areas and Dien Bien Ward would organise more activities to support the disadvantaged and care for policy beneficiaries, as this connects households and strengthens ties between the people and the local authorities.
Reports at the meeting showed that over the last 31 years the Dien Bien Ward VFF Committee has constantly consolidated and developed towards improving the efficiency of the operations of the Front and its member organisations.
The committee has gathered locals in a bloc of great national unity to successfully implement patriotic emulation movements and democratic regulations at the grassroots level, such as the movement “All People Unite to Build a New Countryside and Civilised Urban Areas” and practicing a civilised lifestyle in organising weddings, funerals and festivals.
Such campaigns have yielded positive results, contributing significantly to gradually improving the material and spiritual lives of local people, maintaining social order and increasingly creating solidarity among people in the residential areas.
The ward has made encouraging progress on social welfare policies to better care for policy beneficiaries.
On the occasion of the event, Vice President Thinh and the leaders of local departments presented gifts to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged families in the locale.
