Vietnam bags one gold, two bronzes at informatics Olympiad

Vietnamese students have won one gold and two bronze medals at the 29th International Olympiad in Informatics, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced.

The gold medal went to Le Quang Tuan, a 12th grader from the High School for Gifted Students at the Hanoi University of Education, while the two bronzes were awarded to Nguyen Hy Hoai Lam and Pham Cao Nguyen.

Lam comes from the Quoc Hoc High School, in Thua Thien-Hue province, while Nguyen studies at the High School for Gifted Students under the VNU College of Sciences.

The 2017 International Olympiad in Informatics was held in Iran with the participation of 308 students from 84 different countries and territories throughout the globe.

2017 has been a successful year for Vietnam at the international science contests with Vietnamese contestants bringing home four gold medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad, one gold at the International Biology Olympiad and three golds at the International Chemistry Olympiad.

This is Vietnam’s best performance since Vietnamese students began taking part in these competitions.
