Tet gifts for poor families and policy beneficiaries

Various social activities to help workers, policy beneficiaries, and needy people in having a happy and warm Lunar New Year Festival (Tet), have been held across the country.

* Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC's Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong on February 8, paid a Tet visit to Naval Command Zone 2 in Vung Tau province.

He congratulated the soldiers and officers on their achievements and called for greater efforts in building a modern army with strengthened combat tactics. He said they should overcome difficulties in the maintenance of military equipment and weapons as well as in communications on sea and islands sovereignty.

The same day, Politburo member Thuong visited and presented Tet gifts to war veterans and policy beneficiary families in Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province. He expressed his wish that the war veterans would promote the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers in their areas of residence.

* On the afternoon of February 8, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai paid a Tet visit to the Ha Dong District Public Security, Ha Dong General Hospital, and revolutionary comrades and policy beneficiary families in the district of Ha Dong.

* On the same day, a delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC), led by the VFFCC President Tran Thanh Man, visited and gave gifts to the Phu Quy Humanitarian Centre; Bac Giang Provincial Center for Social Work; and poor households in Vo Tranh commune, Luc Nam district, Bac Giang province.

* On February 8, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), the Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR), and MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation presented 1,200 train tickets for the Tet holiday to workers at the industrial zones in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An provinces.
