The event was held by Japanese retail AEON Group in response to a project to plant one million green trees in the capital city.

Speaking at the event, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda emphasised that the planting of 500 cherry blossom trees in Hanoi is not only among the activities to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries but also significantly contributes to cleaning the environment.

He also expressed his hope that the trees would grow well, turning Hoa Binh Park into an attractive place for people to relax.

Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that, one year ago, the first trees presented by the AEON Group were planted in the park. They are flourishing and growing well, which proves the continuous development of the friendship and partnership between Vietnam and Japan in general, and Hanoi – AEON Group in particular.
