OVs in Cambodia celebrate Vietnam’s National Reunification Day

The Association of Vietnamese Cambodians in Phnom Penh held a meeting on April 28 to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30).

Addressing the event, the Association’s Chairman Huynh Minh Phu recalled the historical milestones which contributed to the great spring 1975 victory, and showed his deep gratitude to the heroes, war martyrs, and all those who took part in the national struggle for independence, freedom, and reunification.

He also expressed his thanks for the Vietnamese Party and State’s great care for the Vietnamese Cambodian community in Phnom Penh, calling on the Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Cambodia to promote solidarity and compassion, while continuing to support Vietnam’s construction and development.

Chargé d'affaires at the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia Nguyen Trac Toan stressed that the victory of the Vietnamese national resistance war against the US was significantly contributed to by the support of international friends as well as the friendship and solidarity of Vietnam – Laos-Cambodia fighting alliance.

He spoke highly of the OVs community in Cambodia for their contributions to Vietnam’s construction and defence.
