Attending the ceremony were the staff of Movitel Company (under the military run Viettel Group), Vietnamese representatives from local business, health, education and agriculture units, and students studying in the host country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Le Huy Hoang highlighted the significance of the Liberation of the South Vietnam and National Unification, saying that it is not only a pride of Vietnam but also of all nations in the fight for independence, freedom and unity around the world, including the vast majority of countries in Africa.

The diplomat affirmed that after more than 40 years since national reunification, the pride of the April 30 Victory is still a source of support for the Vietnamese people in defending and developing the country in modern times. The creativity and determination to overcome all difficulties and make full use of any given opportunity have helped Vietnam to continue its development path, while actively integrating into the international arena and becoming a reliable partner contributing to peace in the region and across the globe.

On the occasion of the upcoming International Workers’ Day (May 1), Ambassador Hoang expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff of Movitel Group and the Vietnamese enterprises in the host country, as well as Mozambique labourers who have been making important contributions to the enhancement of cooperation in telecommunications, trade and economics between the two countries.

He also expressed his wish that the Vietnamese business units and communities in Mozambique would promote the spirit of the significant events to contribute to the friendship and cooperation between both sides.

The representatives from the local Vietnamese community expressed their pride and pleasure on the continuous development of the united Vietnam since the Spring 1975 Victory, while wishing to continue contributing to improving the image of Vietnam in the host country.

The Vietnamese community in Mozambique hosted a friendly football tourney to tighten their relations with local communities.

At the ceremony, the organisers also awarded prizes for the winners of a mini football tournament held in Maputo from April 28 to 29. This is the fourth consecutive Vietnamese friendly football tournament held in Mozambique to promote exchanges between the Vietnamese and local communities.

A cultural and culinary programme was also held on the occasion to introduce the unique Vietnamese culture and cuisine to locals.
