At 7am on September 16, the storm’s eye was some 320km east-southeast of Macau (China). In the next 24 hours, the storm will move west-northwest, boasting winds of roughly 150km per hour, heading to the south of Guangdong province, China.
At 7am on September 17, the eye of the storm is forecast to be at 22.7 degrees north and 109.0 degrees east, on the mainland of the south of Guangxi province, China.
It will hit the mainland of Vietnam on September 17, causing heavy downpours covering the northern and north central regions from September 17-19.
Flash floods are also predicted in Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang and Thanh Hoa provinces following heavy downpours.
Localities have urged off-shore vessels to find shelter and guide other vessels to approach anchorage areas to ensure safety.
Special teams will be deployed to check flash flood-prone areas and notify and relocate people to safe places. Food, means of transport and communications must be well-prepared in case of an emergency situation.
