Vice President receives outstanding delegates from Lao Cai

Vice President, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, hosted a reception in Hanoi on September 17 for 60 outstanding delegates from the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.

At the reception, VP Thinh praised the delegates’ contributions to their communities and for joining hands to boost the local socio-economic development and maintain social security and order.

The VP expressed her hope that the delegates would continue to uphold the country’s traditions, promote their roles as examples for younger generations, and encourage others to follow the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and laws.

In recent years, Lao Cai province has implemented many programmes and projects on cultural development and conservation. In addition, tourism witnessed breakthrough development in 2017 by welcoming 3.5 million tourist arrivals, 175 times more than that of 1991.

The total State budget collection in the province reached over VND7.5 trillion, 209 times higher than that of 1991. The average provincial income per capita reached VND52 million. The rate of poor households has decreased rapidly each year, while the living condition of the local people has also been improved.

Achievements have also been obtained in many fields such as security, defence, foreign affairs, and Party and political system building.
