Politburo member salutes veteran artists on Vietnam’s Stage Day

Politburo member and Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC), Vo Van Thuong, saluted veteran artists Tran Tien and Tran Bang during separate visits to the two artists on September 17, on the occasion of Vietnam’s Stage Day.

During the visits, Politburo member Thuong, who is also Head of PCC Commission for Communication and Education, spoke highly of the great contributions made by the two artists to the country’s development of stage arts.

Each role they have led in every stage work has left a deep impressions on many generations of Vietnamese audiences, he stressed.

He also took the occasion to extend his best wishes for good health to the guests, expressing his hope that the veteran artists would continue sharing their experience with their younger colleagues and make further contributions to Vietnam’s contemporary stage arts.

People’s Artist Tran Bang, 92, has devoted his life to collecting and preserving ancient Cheo (traditional opera) plays. He has also produced books and research on the art form. He was awarded the State Awards for Literature and the Arts in 2001.

People’s Artist Tran Tien, 81, is one of most experienced stage artists in Vietnam, whose performances have won the hearts of the Vietnamese audience. He was honoured with the Labour Order, first class, in 1997.
