The company announced the awards in a statement on September 17, saying the two designs were among a list of 26 Vietnamese designs which have been honoured by the awards.

Long Thanh House in Dong Nai province was given an honourable mention in the single family residential project category, while Terra Cotta Studio in Quang Nam province won gold in the category of sustainability. The two buildings are mainly constructed using brick and environmentally friendly materials.

Among the other awardees, Thailand’s Junsekino Architect and Design took home both the gold medal and the Building of the Year Award for exemplary works of architecture.

Architects from Thailand bagged six awards, while their counterparts from Singapore won one.

ARCASIA honoured brilliant young architects from the ASEAN region with several distinguished awards this year.

Architects Nguyen Hai Long and Tran Thi Ngu Ngon designed the two prize-winning houses in Vietnam.

The Terra Cotta Studio, three storeys of workspace designed for a local potter in Dien Phuong commune of Quang Nam province, was built from bricks and wood. The first storey has a concrete floor. The space is also used to display the potter’s work.

The building also won the Wienerberger Brick Award for excellent brick architecture in the “Working Together” category. The ceremony was held in Vienna, Austria, in May 2018. The studio stood out as the only Asian-designed building among the predominantly European winners.
