The construction of the bridge commenced in June 2015 at a total investment of VND 722.6 billion, invested in by the provincial Department of Traffic.

The bridge measures 4 kilometres long, is 17 metres wide, and has four lanes for traffic.

The project is on a major traffic route connecting Yen Bai city to the right bank of the Red River, linking the city with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Highway and contributing to the city’s northwest gateway development and urban expansion.

It also helps to allocate a large amount of the city’s population in order to create a foundation for Yen Bai to become a second-grade city by 2020.
