Vice President attends honouring ceremony of outstanding HCMC examples

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh attended an honouring ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on January 11, for 96 exemplary individuals and collectives in the city, who stood out in the city’s emulation movement.

The honourees were recognised for their voluntary support for underprivileged people in the community, which has contributed to their residential areas’ development and promoting a spirit of compassion and mutual support in the society.

Addressing the event, Vice President Thinh spoke highly of the honourees’ good deeds as well as Ho Chi Minh City’s achievements in implementing its emulation movement.

On the occasion, she presented VND 50 million to the Department for Special Care under Nhan Ai hospital, one of the 17 outstanding honouring collectives. The department also received VND330 million from benefactors and businesses at the ceremony.

On the evening of the same day, the Vice President joined leaders and local residents of Tien Giang province at the opening ceremony of the provincial culture, sports and tourism festival 2019.

The festival entertains visitors with various activities including a trade fair, a cuisine fest, farm trips to tourist attractions, a music band festival, a bicycle race, and a forum on youth start-ups.

The event, which is held to welcome lunar New Year – the Year of the Pig 2019, will last until January 14.
