Activities held to help workers and needy people celebrate a happy Tet festival

Politburo member and Defence Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged workers of the Z111 Factory, under the General Department of Defence Industry, on January 12, on the occasion of the upcoming Tet (lunar New Year) festival.

While applauding the factory’s achievements in 2018, he called on the staff and workers to make greater efforts to further develop Vietnam’s defence industry.

Also this morning, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Uong Chu Luu attended a programme to bring a warm Tet to people affected by natural disasters in Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province.

The two-day event includes the provision of free healthcare check-ups and medicine for residents in Trung Son commune, the presentation of warm clothes and gifts to students at Trung Son Elementary School, the delivery of 300 gifts to Trung Thanh, Trung Son and Thanh Son communes and the inauguration of a local Red Cross station.

A banquet to welcome Tet early will be staged for 416 poor households in Co Ma, Pao and Chieng villages of the commune on the occasion.

The Da Nang City Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs announced it will spend some VND44 billion on gifts for 90,000 policy beneficiaries, war veterans, Vietnamese heroic mothers and poor households in the city as the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2019 nears.

The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will grant 700 gifts to policy beneficiaries and victims of Agent Orange/ Dioxin in Hanoi and Quang Tri province, as well as disadvantaged people from poor communes in Thai Nguyen province, to help them celebrate a happy Tet holiday.
