Tet gifts presented to disadvantaged labourers nationwide

A variety of activities are being held with gifts presented to disadvantaged labourers nationwide to encourage and support them to enjoy a happy upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet).

On January 13, Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich joined local leaders at a gathering for workers at Dong Van Industrial Park in Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province.

The event was held by the Ha Nam Labour Confederation to help workers enjoy a warm Tet with their families, targeting giving 1,200 Tet gifts, 300 bus tickets and 20 free bus trips to send workers home to gather with their family members for the biggest festival of the year.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party and State, General Ngo Xuan Lich conveyed his best wishes to the workers, while expressing his wish that they would return to work quickly after a warm Tet with enthusiastic production. He also urged local businesses to pay more attention to workers to improve their skills and care for their living in order to build a harmonious, stable and progressive labour relationship in enterprises.

On the same day, Hai Phong Economic Zone’s Trade Union reviewed the social activities in caring for local workers and protecting their legitimate and legal rights in the past year, with nearly 65,000 union members being given Tet gifts worth VND22.6 billion. In Tet 2019, the union will organise free shuttle buses to send workers home to celebrate Tet and support the construction of Labor Union houses for disadvantaged labourers.

A Tet gathering has been held in Hung Yen province for local workers by Hung Yen Labour Confederation, featuring various activities including dialogues between workers, trade union officials and business owners, cultural exchanges, quizzes related to the rights and legitimate interests of workers and a lottery. The confederation also provided financial assistant for 10 union members in difficult circumstances to build and repair their Labor Union houses, as well as presenting Tet gifts worth VND500,000 each for 500 other workers.

In Hanoi, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung inspected the preparation of Tet activities for locals in Quoc Oai district. So far, Quoc Oai has developed a plan to visit and give nearly 24,000 Tet gifts worth over VND11.5 billion to local policy beneficiaries. On the occasion, Chairman Chung gave Tet gifts to 160 disadvantaged households in Dong Xuan commune (Quoc Oai district) and witnessed the donation of three breeding cows to three disadvantaged households and 20 bicycles to students in the commune.

From January 11 to 13, in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province, the provincial Labor Confederation hosted a Tet fair 2019, featuring 25 booths offering traditional specialties, souvenirs and other necessitates at preferential prices for local workers. During the three days of organising, the fair attracted a large number of local trade union members and workers, with 4,000 preferential coupons offered.
