Joyful Tet gatherings held for poor workers in localities

Joyful gatherings were held for poor workers in Soc Trang, Hai Phong and Thai Binh provinces on January 19, as Tet (lunar New Year) festival is just around the corner.

Speaking at the event held at An Nghiep Industrial Park in Soc Trang province, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC), and Head of PCC Commission for Communication and Education, Vo Van Thuong extended his best greetings for a happy and warm Tet festival to the provincial leaders, businesses, and workers.

He lauded the province’s labour federation for hosting the event as well as the contributions made by local agencies and businesses in caring for labourers’ life.

At the gathering, the organising board presented 1,000 Tet gifts to trade union members, employees, and handed over 11 houses for poor employees in the province.

A similar gathering took place in Thai Binh province the same day, during which the provincial labour federation presented 30 Tet gifts to trade union members and workers who are living in difficulties.

A Tet market for poor workers was held at Trang Due industrial park in Hai Phong city the same day, attracting 30 local businesses, who offered 10-60% discount on the prices of their products for the participants.

A total of 50 gifts worth nearly VND70 million were presented to poor workers on the occasion.

Also this morning, Politburo member, PCC Secretary and Head of PCC Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Truong Thi Mai paid pre-Tet visits and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries, poor households, and disadvantaged ethnic minority families in Lam Dong province.

In Hanoi, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited the Hanoi Oncology Hospital to deliver 100 Tet gifts to poor patients who are receiving cancer treatment.
