The set includes 158 indicators related to 17 indicators of the global monitoring framework and 115 specific to Vietnam, which are designed to meet the real condition and sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the country.

Addressing the launching workshop, GSO General Director Nguyen Bich Lam said that the quality of statistics have been improved and the collected data in the set has been grouped in sufficient divisions of age, sex, and urban/rural residence, among others, contributing to assisting development policies and the decision-making process.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Le Quang Manh stated that the set of statistical indicators aims to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the SDGs in Vietnam, and provide evidence of the authenticity of the process.

It was built under close coordination and consultancy among the GSO, ministries, agencies, and relevant partners, he stressed.

Vietnam has gained remarkable progress in the deployment of its national action plan on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

According to Michael Krakowski, Director cum Chief Technical Advisor of the GIZ’s Programme on Macroeconomic Reforms and Green Growth, the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s promulgation of a circular regulating the set of statistical indicators will help Vietnam take a step closer to identify a supervisory mechanism on its implementation of SDGs.
