Viettel Sports Centre should focus on developing professional youth football

The Viettel Sports Centre should provide comprehensive training for young football players in terms of culture, physical strength, technique and professional knowledge in order to develop a strong, professional and sustainable football foundation.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement while visiting the Viettel Sports Centre in Hanoi on March 30.

He also visited the training facilities, stadium, rehabilitation system, and studying places of athletes at the centre.

The Deputy PM asked the centre to promote the achievements of their previous generations while focusing on training young footballers and building a fair play style to create friendly images among the public and fans.

The Viettel Sports Centre is training U13, U15, U17, U19, and U21 players and has a team attending the 2019 National Football Championship with a total 135 athletes. The centre possesses a training and education area on a total area of 18.5ha worth VND500 billion (US$21.5 million) which was designed according to the model of professional German football clubs.

During the visit, Deputy PM Dam also attended a football exchange with staff and players working at the Viettel Sports Centre.
