The annual events, hosted by Phu Tho provincial authorities, are being observed at the Hung Kings temple historical site and neighbouring communes and wards. This year’s events also draw the participation of Can Tho city, Nghe An and Son La provinces.

A range of ceremonies are scheduled for the events, including a ritual commemorating death anniversary of the nation’s Great Father Lac Long Quan, incense offering to Great Mother Au Co and Hung Kings, and a palanquin procession, among others.

There will also be a hive of cultural and sporting events, such as an expo showcasing typical products of Phu Tho, a folk singing festival, a display of flowers and ornamental plants, a book festival, a boat race on Lo River, and a competition in making chung (square) and day (round) cakes.

On April 14, further marking the occasion, the Vietnam Ancestral Global Day will be celebrated simultaneously in Laos, Thailand, Japan, Canada and Poland by the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in coordination with Vietnamese embassies, overseas Vietnamese associations and communities in the host countries.

This is the second time the Day has been observed by OV communities, providing the OVs with an opportunity to pay homage to their home country. It will feature cultural events, seminars and workshops about Vietnamese culture.
