According to the national service, the current hot weather has continued to spread widely in the Northwest and from the central province of Thanh Hoa to the Central Coastal province of Khanh Hoa yesterday, with highest average temperatures from 35-37C, even over 38C in some areas, such as Muong La (Son La) 40.3C, Yen Chau (Son La) 40.1C, Phu Yen (Son La) 40.5C, Hoa Binh 39C, Mai Chau (Hoa Binh) 40C, Hoi Xuan (Thanh Hoa) 39.2C, Tay Hieu (Nghe An) 38.8C, Tuong Duong (Nghe An) 39.5C, Huong Khe (Ha Tinh) 38.8C and Ba To (Quang Ngai) 38.6C.

It is forecast that, due to the influence of the western low pressure area and the southwest wind zone, hot weather continues to occur in the Northwest, Central and South Vietnam on April 23, with highest temperatures ranging from 34-37C. In particular, the Northwest and the northern and central parts of the Central Mountainous area are suffering from severe heat, with temperatures at above 38C.

Temperatures of over 35C are forecast to last for 11 to 16 hours today.

Hanoi’s highest temperature for Tuesday is predicted to be between 33 and 35C.

It is warned that the hot weather will last longer in the last days of April and early May, posing the risk of forest fires in several localities.

On April 22, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued an urgent message on forest fire prevention and control, requesting the concerned localities and authorities to take preventive measures and prepare all forces and means to deal with any incidents that may occur.
