Various activities held to mark Southern Liberation and National Reunification

A wide range of activities were organised across the country on April 29 to celebrate the 44th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2019).

Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan visited the families of war martyrs, national contributors and senior Party members in the city on April 29.

He expressed his gratitude to the families of martyrs and national contributors for their great contributions to the revolution and the development of Ho Chi Minh City, hoping that they will continue to make contributions to their locality and national construction and development.

On the occasion, Secretary Nhan also visited local residents at Dong Khanh and Tan Da apartment buildings in District 5.

*The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union chapter in Ho Chi Minh City held a candle lighting ceremony at the municipal Martyr Cemetery in Long Binh ward, District 9, to pay tribute to more than 15,000 Heroes and martyrs on the 44th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day.

* The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Tien Giang province coordinated with the province’s Veterans’ Association to hold an exchange between veterans and younger generations in My Tho city on April 29 to review historical memories of Southern Liberation Day and educate younger generations about patriotism.

* In Quang Nam province, young doctors provided free health checkups and consultations for 500 national contributors, ethnic minorities and disadvantaged people in A Xan commune, Tay Giang district.

* During the holiday,a range of art performances and sports and entertainment activities were held in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, ThuaThien – Hue, Tien Giang and others to mark Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day.

Ho Chi Minh City will set off fireworks at three locations on the night of April 30 to entertain local people.
