Scientific seminar marks 60 years of Uncle Ho’s visit to Northwest region

Tay Bac University held a national scientific seminar in Son La city, Son La province on May 4, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s visit to the Northwest region (May 7, 1959-2019).

The event gathered the participation of more than 300 delegates, including scientists from universities and scientific research centres, and officials, lecturers, students and Lao overseas students studying at the university.

In his opening speech, Dr. Dinh Thanh Tam, rector of Tay Bac University, stated that the seminar offers an occasion to affirm the great thoughts of President Ho Chi Minh and review the outcomes of the implementation of Uncle Ho’s teachings, as well as the significant achievements obtained by the Party organisations, authorities and people of northwestern provinces over the past six decades.

The organisation of the seminar aimed to show gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, celebrate the 65th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 129th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s visit to the Northwest region, and welcome Son La province’s inauguration of the Tay Bac Square and the statue featuring Uncle Ho with northwestern ethnic communities this May 7.

According to the organising committee, over 100 articles from 22 agencies, research institutes and universities at both the central and local levels were sent to the seminar.

Participants focused on clarifying the topics of Uncle Ho’s sentiments for the northwestern ethnic compatriots, the Ho Chi Minh thought with the socio-economic development cause in the Northwest region, the Ho Chi Minh thought in training and using ethnic officials, and the building of the Party and authorities in northwestern localities in line with the Ho Chi Minh thought.
