More than 400 flower carts join procession at Vesak 2019

The Executive Board of Ha Nam provincial Buddhists held a procession of more than 400 flower carts and tradition of bathing the Buddha on May 11 to welcome the 16th UN Day of Vesak taking place on May 12-14.

This is the largest ever activity held by the Ha Nam Buddhists to celebrate Vesak 2019 which has been organised for the first time in the province.

On the occasion, pagodas in the province performed the ritual of bathing the Buddha to celebrate the Buddha’s birthday, while hanging flags, banners, flowers and providing lectures on Buddha’s teachings on morality, family love and others.

Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, Head of the Vietnam Buddhism Academy in Hanoi and head of the Executive Board of Ha Nam provincial Buddhists said that the Vietnam Buddhism Academy in Hanoi has mobilised more than 300 monks and nuns to assist the Organising Board in its preparation work.

Earlier, the Organising Board presented gifts to hundreds of wounded and sick soldiers who are receiving treatment at the nursing centre in Duy Tien commune, Kim Bang district.
