Large scale heat wave hits northern region, highest temperature at over 37C

The northern region is suffering a heat wave on a large scale as the current western low pressure is expanding to the southeast, reported the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).

Due to the influence of the low pressure zone combined with the Southwest wind zone, on June 5, the Northern Delta and other central provinces will undergo hot weather on a large scale, with the highest temperature ranging from 35 to 37C, even above 37C in several locales.

Starting from June 6, the heat will expand to the Northern midland provinces, with the period witnessing temperatures of over 35C lasting from 11 to 16 hours.

Severe hot weather will tend to increase in North and Central Vietnam from June 9 and is likely to last for several days after.

On Wednesday, the ultraviolet (UV) alert is set at a high level that can harm the human body, with UV indicator ranging from 6-9 in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, due to the influence of wind convergence on the 1,500m height, the northern mountainous area will suffer from torrential rains and thunderstorms from Wednesday evening.

Hanoi is forecast to be hot and sunny with highest temperatures ranging from 35 to 37C today, with heavy rains and strong winds expected in several places this evening.
