Various activities mark Revolutionary Press Day

A range of activities were held across the nation on June 20 to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2019).

On Thursday morning, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, led a local authorities delegation to visit several press agencies in the city.

Expressing his congratulations to reporters and staff of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper’s residential office in HCM City, Nhan said that he was pleased to witness Nhan Dan’s effective contributions to the city’s development.

Through its articles in various publications and a special column dedicated to HCM City on Nhan Dan daily, the outstanding activities of the southern economic hub have been reported in a timely and diverse manner, thereby confirming the important position of Nhan Dan in the heart of the local authorities and people, Nhan affirmed.

He also expressed his hope that in the future, the city and Nhan Dan would continue to fulfil their tasks well, in which Nhan Dan should continue to comprehensively report on the activities of the city during the upcoming Party congresses at all levels, as well as focusing on smart city development and new mechanisms in regional coordination, especially for the Mekong Delta.

* Later the same day, the Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, visited and congratulated Nhan Dan’s staff at the newspaper’s headquarters in the capital city on the occasion.

Acknowledging the efforts of Nhan Dan Newspaper in propagating the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, Hang affirmed that through its articles and special columns, the newspaper has discovered advanced models, as well as detected limitations and negative issues for Hanoi, from which it has helped local agencies to make timely adjustments.

She expressed her hope Nhan Dan would continue to accompany Hanoi to propagate the instructions and resolutions of the Party Central Committee and the city’s Party Committee, so that Hanoi fulfils all assigned political tasks.

Expressing his sincere thanks to the attention of Hanoi's leaders, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Dinh Nhu Hoan, affirmed that for many years Nhan Dan has received the attention, support and assistance of Hanoi. In the coming times, the newspaper will continue to accompany Hanoi in timely reporting on the capital city’s activities in all fields.

* Also on Thursday, the Academy of Journalism and Communication in coordination with the National Political Publishing House - Truth - organised a symposium on the role of journalism and publishing in the field of culture and ideology in Vietnam. With more than 80 presentations and opinions shared, the workshop offered forecasts and solutions to solve limitations and weaknesses to promote the role of newspapers and publishing for the work.

* Ninh Thuan province’s authorities visited several local press agencies in the province on June 20 to congratulate reporters on the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

* Also on June 20, Quang Binh province held a meeting to celebrate the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. A local journalism award on Party building that was launched for the first time at the event. On the occasion, the provincial Journalists’ Association presented the 13th Quang Binh press awards to the winners.

* A meeting was held in Dak Lak province on Thursday morning, gathering representatives from local press agencies and permanent offices of the centrally-run newspapers in the province.

* Thua Thien - Hue province leaders also visited and congratulated reporters on the occasion. Winners of the 12th Thua Thien - Hue Press Awards, 2019, were also announced, with 17 prizes granted to the best press works.

* At a ceremony to mark the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 20, the Binh Duong Journalists’ Association presented 29 awards to winners of the fourth Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Awards, 2018, named after the former leader of Binh Duong - Nguyen Van Tiet.

* On June 20, in Hanoi, the National Academy of Public Administration held a ceremony to launch the e-version of the State Management Journal - the first specialised scientific journal on State management released on the Internet.
